Body found in river prompts murder investigation
Shariqua AhmedA murder investigation has been launched after a body was recovered from the River Nene in Peterborough.
Emergency services, including Cambridgeshire fire crews and police officers, were called to Pleasure Fair Meadow Road, near Town Bridge, at about 12:00 GMT on Friday following reports a man had been chased and entered the river.
Specialist dive teams recovered the body of 32-year-old Conor Kinlan, of no fixed address, in the early hours of Saturday.
A post-mortem is due to take place on Friday.
Det Ch Insp Richard Stott, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "Detectives have been working hard since Friday to piece together how and why Conor ended up in the river, and we have multiple lines of inquiry which are being followed.
"There will be increased patrols in the area over the coming days."
Anyone with information relating to the incident has been asked to get in touch with the police.
