Beau Sejour theatre to close during upgrade work
States of Guernsey"Essential technical works" at a Guernsey venue could lead to some bookings being cancelled or postponed, it has emerged.
The States of Guernsey said Beau Sejour Leisure Centre's theatre in Amherst would be temporarily closed from mid-April until June while specialist upgrades were carried out.
It said while most performances and bookings could be moved to another part of the leisure centre, a number of events could not be accommodated due to their requirements or scheduling conflicts.
A government spokesperson said it was sorry for the disruption caused and all affected hirers would be contacted directly by theatre managers.
States of GuernseySam Herridge, head of recreation services for Beau Sejour, said: "We know how much this theatre means to our performers, hirers and the wider community and we fully recognise the disappointment and disruption this temporary closure will cause.
"Many people have invested time, creativity and commitment into upcoming events and we are genuinely sorry for the impact these necessary works will have on those plans.
"Although the theatre is safe, the required upgrades and inspection findings mean we must act now to ensure everything is fully compliant and fit for the future."
