Two men have been charged after a man was found with gunshot wounds in a street.

The victim, aged in his 20s, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition after he was found with life-threatening injuries in Wordsworth Road, Willenhall, in the West Midlands, on the evening of 23 December.

Lee Hayes, 50, of Wordsworth Road, Willenhall, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and wounding with intent, West Midlands Police said.

Shane Allsop, 28, of Brueton Road, Wolverhampton, has been charged with perjury by making a false statement in connection with the shooting.

Both of the accused are set to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

A woman, 61, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail, the force said.
