Walsall defender Harrison Burke admits the club's form needs to turn "quickly" if they are to mount a promotion challenge in League Two this season.
The Saddlers have lost five of their last seven matches, the latest defeat coming against Notts County on Saturday.
It has left them in 11th place, three points shy of the play-off spots, having been top towards the end of December.
"If we can learn from our mistakes, and keep the positives going, results will go our way, but we need those to come quickly," Burke told BBC Radio WM.
Walsall topped League Two on 29 December but defeat at home to Oldham triggered a run of 10 points from 14 games which has hit their hopes of automatic promotion.
In their next two matches, they face sixth-placed Salford City, and ninth-placed Crewe Alexandra, opponents within catching distance above them.
Victories in both would revive their play-off bid, and while Burke is confident his team's fortunes will turn, he knows time is of the essence.
"There's definitely positives to take from the last three games," he said.
"But at this moment in time, we can't be clinging on to good performances, we need three points.
"It is coming. We're almost there. It's [about] fine margins, but we'll work on that."
'We recognise where we are' - Sadler
Walsall boss Mat Sadler, meanwhile has dismissed suggestions his future depends on the club getting promoted.
Sadler, 41, has been in charge since April 2023 and signed a new three-and-a-half deal in January 2025, with his team top of the table.
But a run of 13 matches without a win contributed to them slipping to a fourth-place finish, before they then lost the League Two play-off final.
History is repeating itself but Sadler says he hasn't considered what may happen if the club doesn't end its seven-year spell in League Two.
"I don't think it's ever something I've thought of, from that point of view," he said.
"We recognise where we are as a football club, that we want to be competitive in this division, season after season, and that's what we've been."
