Jodi Jones kept Notts County firmly in the running for automatic promotion from League Two

Jodi Jones headed home a stoppage-time winner as promotion-hunting Notts County came from behind to beat Walsall 2-1.

Jones nodded in ex-Walsall winger Maziar Kouhyar's teasing cross to move County within a point of League Two's top three after Oliver Norburn's superb strike cancelled out Aaron Pressley's opener.

It was a fourth successive home defeat for Walsall, who are without a victory in front of their own fans since Boxing Day and sit three points off the play-off places.

Both sides had early chances, with Jones' 20-yard free-kick forcing a save from Walsall goalkeeper Myles Roberts before Saddlers midfielder Charlie Lakin lashed over from 15 yards.

Walsall thought they had scored after 33 minutes, only for Aden Flint's looping header to be ruled offside.

But they did go ahead in the first minute of first-half stoppage time when Pressley lifted coolly over James Belshaw after a brilliant run and pass from Daniel Kanu.

Kanu twice fired wide after the break and Walsall's failure to find a killer second goal was punished late on.

Norburn lashed in a brilliant 20-yard strike after chesting down a 79th-minute clearance before Jones' late winner sent the travelling fans wild.
