Pair arrested over shooting of 19-year-old man

Two men have been arrested after the "targeted" shooting of a 19-year-old man who was left with life-changing injuries.

The teenager was shot in the leg at about 15:20 GMT on 5 March on Beswicke Royds Street in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Police said a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 19-year-old man was held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit wounding, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

Det Insp Matthew Hamer said: "We will relentlessly pursue anyone we believe to be involved in this shooting and will leave no stone unturned."

He added: "Our officers were at the scene within minutes and we are working quickly to understand the circumstances.

"We are continuing to investigate all lines of enquiry and we are actively looking to arrest anyone who we believe is a suspect."

Witnesses or anyone with information have been urged to contact police.
