Man, 19, severely injured in 'targeted' shooting
PA MediaA 19-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries after a "targeted" shooting in a street.
It happened at about 15:20 GMT on Beswicke Royds Street, Rochdale, when officers found the injured man with a gunshot wound to his leg, Greater Manchester Police said.
The man was taken to hospital "with injuries described as life-changing but not believed to be life-threatening at this time", the force added.
Supt Lucy Smallwood, said: "It is believed this was a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the public."
She added: "Our officers were at the scene within minutes and we are working quickly to understand the circumstances.
"We are continuing to investigate all lines of enquiry and we are actively looking to arrest anyone who we believe is a suspect.
"There are multiple road closures and an increased police presence in the area."
Witnesses or anyone with information have been urged to contact police.
