Police have issued an appeal to help to find a man who absconded from a Lancashire prison four months ago.

Luke Huston, 36, absconded from the open prison HMP Kirkham on 29 November last year.

Lancashire Police said he was serving a 27-month sentence for assault, burglary and robbery.

The force said "enquiries have been ongoing since then to find him", but detectives have now also asked for the public's help.

The BBC has asked the force why the appeal was not issued sooner.

Huston is 5ft 8in (1.72m), with short brown hair and a brown beard.

Police said he has links to Preston, Chester and North Wales.
