Members of the public have been warned not to approach Barry Lynn but to instead call 999, police said

Police have issued an appeal to find a man who absconded from an open prison in October.

Barry Lynn, 45, is wanted after absconding from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire.

In a post on social media, Fylde Police warned anyone who might see Lynn not to approach him but to alert them by calling 999.

He is said to have links to Newcastle and is described as 5ft 4in (1.6m) with short brown hair and blue eyes and a north east accent.

"Lynn is now wanted for escaping lawful custody and enquiries are ongoing to locate him," a police spokesperson said.
