Lion House allows adults with learning disabilities to live independently with support

A specialist supported accommodation for adults with learning disabilities has opened in Wellington, Shropshire

Built at the site of the former Red Lion Pub, Lion House allows those with care needs to live independently with the help of 24-hour support.

It is made up of 11 self-contained apartments and a large communal area as well as dedicated staff office and facilities.

"It's about enabling people to live well for longer in their own homes, with dignity and independence, " Lee Carter, the leader of Telford and Wrekin Council said.

Councillor Angela McClements, added: "We are delighted to see this formerly stalled site brought back into productive use, creating much-needed specialist accommodation for our community.

"Lion House demonstrates our determination to make best use of brownfield sites whilst delivering homes that will make a real difference to people's lives."
