Stranded dolphin found dead in Humber Estuary
Cleethorpes Wildlife RescueA dolphin has been found dead in the Humber Estuary, Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue has said.
The organisation said it was called to reports of a stranding near Goxhill, North Lincolnshire, at about 15:30 BST on Sunday.
The Humber Coastguard was called to collect data as the animal is classed as a Royal Fish, which under UK law is the property of the King.
The mammal was removed by the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme and will be taken to London for further investigation.
Last year, a porpoise was helped back out to sea after becoming stranded on mud flats in the Humber Estuary near Hessle.
In June, a pod of dolphins were caught on camera leaping out of the water and swimming alongside a ship off Flamborough.
