Prison inmate who died named by ombudsman
GoogleA male inmate who died has been named by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman as Rawal Krishan.
The 28-year-old, who was an inmate at HMP Highpoint in Stradishall, near Haverhill, died on Tuesday 27 January at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, Suffolk Police said.
Officers arrested a male inmate in his 20s on suspicion of murder and questioned him before releasing him from the force's custody.
On Tuesday, a male inmate in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released from police custody.
Krishan was first treated at the hospital on 23 January before he was returned to the prison and was readmitted to hospital four days later.
A spokesperson for the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said: "The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman's investigation into the death of Rawal Krishan on 27 January 2026, a prisoner at HMP Highpoint, has commenced."
Suffolk Police said it has been working with the prison to establish the "full circumstances" of the death.
A post-mortem examination took place on 30 January and the cause of death will be subject to further investigation.
