A bullet-peppered door taken from a home in Ukraine has been displayed at a viewpoint in Dorset to mark the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Artist Robert Marshall's pop-up sculpture was installed at Peveril Point, overlooking Swanage Bay, on Tuesday to "give pause for thought" for the Ukrainians displaced from their homeland.

Marshall from Wareham said the artwork, titled 'People', featured the word painted in Ukrainian on the door, which was pierced in multiple places to show invaders that civilians were behind it.

The door, salvaged from Toretsk in 2024, was in place from dawn to dusk to mark the anniversary.

Marshall said it was not known what happened to the people who lived in the destroyed home. He added: "I only pray they managed to escape to safety."

Russia's full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022.

Marshall said the installation was created as a 'pop-up' to be easily erected and dismantled so that it can be shown in a variety of locations.

The door is one of two the conceptual and environmental sculptor has created, the first of which was scorched by a blast and had a hole blown through it.
