Kessock Ferry Swim cancelled for second year in a row
Paul CampbellOrganisers of the Kessock Ferry Swim say the event will not go ahead next year.
In previous years, hundreds of people have made the 1,200m (3,937ft) crossing between South Kessock in Inverness and North Kessock on the Black Isle.
The charity behind the event, Àban Outdoor Ltd, said it would take a break in 2026 before returning in 2027.
This year's swim was cancelled due to high winds making the sea conditions unsafe.
Àban Outdoor Ltd said it was developing a more sustainable format to avoid disruption to the event.
Chief executive of Àban Outdoor Ltd Johannes Petersen said: "Obviously with the weather cancellation this year it was really difficult for us financially.
"We just need to rejig the format for the event and once we've done that we can then come back in 2027.
"So it'll still be back, it's just going to look slightly different."
Previous events have been held in the months of June and September.
The Kessock Ferry Swim was revived in 2022 after a break of 50 years.
