Inverness-based charity New Start Highland has taken over running of the Highland Foodbank.

The service, which supports more than 5,000 people each year, was previously run by Blythswood Care for 20 years.

New Start Highland said there would be no changes made to how the facility was run, or the opening hours.

Supported by food charity Trussell, it is run by a small team of staff and more than 70 volunteers in Nairn, Alness, Tain and Dingwall.

James Dunbar, chief executive of New Start Highland, said: "Taking on the Highland Foodbank felt like a natural progression for us, aligning closely with the services we already provide for people facing crisis.

"Working with the team at Blythswood, we will ensure a smooth and well-supported transition, and we thank them sincerely for their dedication in delivering such a vital service."
