A Worcestershire drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years for being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Syed Ahmad, 36, of Gheluvelt Avenue, Kidderminster, was found guilty at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday.

He was sentenced to an initial three years and nine months, but his jail term was extended to to five years and two months for having a previous suspended sentence for the same offence.

Det Con Kane Baker said: "We are pleased to get this court result for Ahmad whose drug dealing pushed cocaine into Kidderminster and the surrounding areas."

The West Mercia Police officer added: "The harmful impact of drugs and drug dealing on our communities is well documented and we will always act on intelligence to shut down deal lines like this one.

"Drug dealers prey on the most vulnerable people in society and their presence in turn causes more crime such as shoplifting, burglary and antisocial behaviour."
