Probable cause of fire that killed 75 pigs revealed

The probable cause of a blaze that killed 75 pigs has been revealed by the fire service.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to a building housing 400 pigs at the Peddards Pig farm in Cookley, near Halesworth, at 07:27 BST on 29 September.

A vet was also called to help with injured pigs and "humanely euthanise" those with "non-survivable burns to prevent further suffering", SFRS said.

A spokesperson for SFRS has now confirmed the "most probable" cause was an electrical fire triggered by an unknown source.
