Woman seriously injured as M11 closed for hours
National HighwaysA woman has been injured following a "serious collision" on the M11.
Essex Police said one vehicle - a blue Nissan Almera - was involved in the crash on the northbound carriageway between junctions six, for Epping, and seven, for Harlow, shortly before 19:40 GMT on New Year's Day.
The carriageway was closed while emergency services responded and the woman, who was the driver, was taken to hospital with what police called serious injuries.
Essex Police said the road reopened at about 23:40 and that it was continuing to appeal for information following the incident.
There was also another collision on the southbound carriageway at about the same time, but police described that as "less serious" and not related to the other crash.
The force appealed for information and dashcam footage and said people should contact it via the 101 phone number or by submitting a report on the Essex Police website or its 24-hour live chat service.
