Two charged after cyclist in 80s killed in crash

Two men have been charged over a crash in 2024 which killed a man in his 80s who was riding a tricycle.

James Lawley was hit by a Seat Altea car and fell into the road before he was then struck by a Mercedes on Oxcliffe Road in Morecambe on 21 September.

Lancashire Police said the driver of the Seat, Matthew Isherwood, 28, of Heysham, had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The driver of the Mercedes, Kevin Dawson, 63, also of Heysham, has been charged with causing death by careless driving.

The men, both from Heysham, appeared in court earlier and are set to appear again at Preston Crown Court on 25 February.
