Ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have resumed but passengers have been warned of possible further cancellations.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said four sailings were at risk between Wednesday evening and Thursday night due to a forecast of severe gales.

Tuesday's afternoon and evening crossings between Douglas and Heysham were called off as a result of rough sea conditions.

Ronaldsway Met Office said gusts of 65mph (104km/h) were expected to hit the island on Thursday.

The Steam Packet warned Wednesday's 19:15 GMT crossing, along with Thursday's 01:45, 08:00 and 13:45 sailings, could be cancelled.

The government-owned ferry firm said passengers could change their bookings free of charge online or by contacting the reservations team.
