Severe gales have brought some disruption at the airport

Passengers due to travel on planes and ferries on the Isle of Man have seen journeys cancelled due to severe gales.

A yellow weather warning of gusts of up to 65mph (105km/h) is in place on the island until 15:00 GMT, forecasters have said.

Loganair flights between the island and Birmingham, as well as to Liverpool, have been cancelled as a result.

Meanwhile, Thursday's overnight 01:45 Steam Packet sailing from Heysham, the 08:00 crossing from Douglas and the 13:45 return have all been called off.

Three of Thursday's Manxman sailings have been cancelled

Thursday evening's 19:15 sailing from Douglas has been brought forward, and is now set to depart at 17:30, with the overnight return scheduled to leave Heysham at 01:45 on Friday as planned.

There have been a number of ferry cancellations this week due to rough conditions, with sailings on Tuesday also called off.

An Isle of Man Airport spokesperson warned that the weather conditions may cause further disruption, and has urged passengers to check with their airline for any updates.

The strong to gale force southwest winds hitting the island are set to ease in the afternoon, forecasters have said.
