Family focus for £2m leisure centre revamp

Families should benefit from a £2m revamp of a leisure centre which follows urgent repairs to the structure of the building, a council says.

Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, had to be shut in January after corrosion was discovered on metal beams.

With those works completed and the beams strengthened, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is pressing on with their revamp.

"These refurbishment works mark an exciting new chapter for Pingles Leisure Centre," councillor Brady Hughes said.

Among the changes will be an extended and enhanced gym, a new group cycling studio and new water features.

"Expanding the gyms and introducing state-of-the-art equipment will give its users greater opportunity to stay active and healthy," Hughes added.

"The new water confidence paddling pool and remodelled café at the Pingles will be even more welcoming for families and people of all ages."

The works are due to be finished in January.
