A £2.2m revamp of a leisure centre has been completed a year after it had to close for essential maintenance.

Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, shut last January after corrosion was discovered on metal beams.

After completing that work, a refurbishment was carried out and has included adding an interactive splash pad and renovating the outdoor pool.

A Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council spokesperson said the centre now includes a new group cycling studio, while the gym has new equipment and 50 more stations.

The scheme was paid for by the borough council and operator Everyone Active.

The front of the centre and its cafe have also been revamped and the ground floor changing village refurbished, the spokesperson added.

Councillor Brady Hughes praised the revamp work as "outstanding"

"This refurbishment is truly outstanding," said councillor Brady Hughes.

She added, with a revamp of the town's Jubilee Sports Centre also progressing well and the new Bedworth Physical Activity Hub due for completion in March, 2026 was "set to be a momentous year for leisure in the borough".
