A 500m cordon which led to the closure of a section of a main road, and was put in place after reports of a gas leak, has been lifted, police have confirmed.

The cordon was put in place around Pennygillam Industrial Estate, in Launceston, Cornwall, on Friday afternoon, and the A30 was closed in both directions.

Buildings within 200m were also evacuated and people in properties within the wider 500m cordon were asked to stay inside and keep doors and windows shut.

Closure of part of the A30 caused long delays in the area as people were urged to find alternative routes.
