A man was arrested after a car crashed into a house.

The black Volvo smashed into the two-storey home in Gosbrook Road in Caversham, Berkshire, at about 22:30 GMT on Friday.

The front of the house was visibly damaged and a cordon remained around it and the car on Monday morning.

Police said a 54-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit and driving while unfit. He was later released under investigation.

Firefighters spent about an hour on Friday making the car safe, isolating the house's electricity supply and cordoning the area off, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
