Artists given three year extension for studio

A three-year extension for a community studio has been given to two local artists after the success it saw in its first year being open.

ArtHouse Jersey and Andium Homes confirmed Jersey artists Hayley Gibaut and Sophie Harris, who run The Stoodio, would continue using the space at Cyril Le Marquand Court.

ArtHouse Jersey said the ground floor studio space was made available through a partnership with Andium Homes and had grown into a "thriving creative hub".

In a joint statement Gibaut and Harris said: "It was never a one-year project for us, our passion comes from a deep belief in the power of art to bring people together and strengthen community."

They added being given the extension affirmed to them why spaces like The Stoodio were needed.

"We'd like to sincerely thank Andium and ArtHouse Jersey for believing in the vision and helping us continue to grow something that truly belongs to the community," they said.

ArtHouse Jersey said the artists planned to build on this momentum with an expanded programme of workshops, exhibitions and community-led events, alongside their free sessions.

Tom Dingle, chief executive of ArtHouse Jersey, said: "The impact Hayley and Sophie have made in just one year has been remarkable."

"The Stoodio has become a genuinely welcoming, creative and socially valuable space, and it's a brilliant example of what can happen when artists are given the time, trust and right environment to develop something meaningful for their community."
