Locals object to development in 'Hollywood-on-Sea'
ADP Landscape ArchitectsPeople living in a coastal village, dubbed 'Hollywood-on-Sea' for its celebrity residents, fear plans to build 28 holiday lodges would over-develop the area.
Developers have applied to build the units on a field about 0.6 miles (1km) east of Mawgan Porth on Cornwall's north coast, next to a separate holiday park with 106 static caravans.
The St Mawgan in Pydar Parish Council said residents were concerned it could risk "detracting from the very characteristics that bring visitors to the area".
Stars understood to have holiday homes in Mawgan Porth, include Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, Jason Momoa, Jason Statham and Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
The parish council raised concerns the new development could harm an Area of Great Landscape Value (GLV) near the location, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Despite the developers reducing the number of units in the application, the council said it still represented a "further extension to an already much-extended site and further intrusion into a once peaceful rural valley within the AGLV".
"The parish is already very well served for tourism provision," it said.
"Local residents' questionnaire responses for the parish neighbourhood plan showed that parishioners felt there was sufficient tourism provision and that the area did not need any more."

Resident Adam Chippindall wrote: "This proposed development is a commercial enterprise, designed only to enhance profits and does nothing positive for our community.
"It does not provide any extra community infrastructure, it does not enhance Mawgan Porth, it adds to its burdens, it is not providing housing for the local community."
The application is due to be discussed at the planning meeting at 10:00 GMT on Monday 9 February at Lys Kernow County Hall in Truro.
