Urgent repair work is being carried out along parts of a coastal embankment in Lincolnshire.

North East Lincolnshire Council said a period of high tides and strong onshore winds had exposed the foundations along a 130ft (40m) stretch at the north end of the Humberston Fitties sea wall.

An inspection found cracks on the embankment itself, and the work was necessary to "maintain the structural integrity", a spokesperson said.

Repairs are expected to be completed within the week, they added.

According to the council, concrete and rock would be used to support and strengthen the sea wall foundations.

Construction vehicles would access the area via the Anthony's Bank car park.

There are no planned road or car park closures, the authority said, but people are advised to take extra care around construction vehicles moving to and from the site.

For safety, dog owners are advised to keep their pets on a lead while the work takes place.
