A main road has reopened after the death of a man in a house fire.

Emergency services found the man inside a property just off Cirencester Road in Chalford, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, at about 22:20 GMT on Monday. His next of kin have been informed, police said.

Several properties were evacuated and an electricity line was damaged in the fire, but power has now been restored to about 20 homes, the force added.

The side roads near to the scene remain closed and Gloucestershire Constabulary has asked drivers to avoid the area.
