More than 400 people were dispersed from an illegal rave, and three were arrested, after police came across the event while on patrol in the area.

Dozens of officers and a police dog entered an industrial unit in Burrel Road in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, at about 01:30 GMT on Sunday.

A dispersal order was put in place to prevent further people from entering the area, and police seized equipment, cut the power to the unit and boarded it up to prevent any further incidents.

Three people from Doddington in Cambridgeshire, Swindon in Wiltshire and Stroud in Gloucestershire were arrested on suspicion of various crimes, including burglary, possession of drugs and violent disorder, and released on bail.

"Attendees leaving such an event, intending to drive, are also likely to be breathalysed."
