Trains off for five days for level crossing works
Network RailThere will be no trains between Middlesbrough and Whitby for five days next week, so a level crossing can be replaced.
Rail replacement buses have been put in place over the half-term week from Monday 23 February to Friday 27 February for works on Nunthorpe level crossing.
Marton Moor Road will also be closed from 19:00 GMT on Sunday through to 05:30 on Saturday, with a diversion in place for cars and a shuttle bus for pedestrians.
Network Rail said it would replace the crossing with a sliding barrier and new operating system, and a new road layout would be completely resurfaced.
Project manager Amelia Fordyce said: "The existing crossing needs to be replaced due to the age and condition of the current equipment, and we've scheduled the work for half-term week to minimise disruption as much as we can."
Replacement buses will call at all stations but Network Rail advised passengers to only bring luggage they can carry comfortably.
Buses would depart from the turning circle outside Nunthorpe Academy on Guisborough Road, Network Rail said.
Meanwhile, the shuttle buses for pedestrians would run every 20 minutes, stopping at the Arriva 28 and 28A bus stops and would call at Nunthorpe Academy for passengers wishing to catch the rail replacement bus services.
