Dartford Junction and several stations will be improved over the half-term break, rail bosses say.

Some train services are cancelled causing delays.

Winter weather caused some delays and cancellations on the Merseyrail network earlier this week.

The Hope Valley Line will cease services on Thursday and not return to operation until Saturday.

The West Coast Mainline at Carlisle has brighter signal lights and updated systems installed.

Network Rail says the works will take place across three weekends in January.

Disruption through Birmingham New Street is expected to last until 12:30 GMT.

The work at Hanslope Junction and nearby stations took place during an 11-day closure.
