Teenager arrested after boy, 14, stabbed
Getty ImagesA teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in a stabbing in Sheffield.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested earlier and remains in police custody after the attack on Wednesday at about 21:50 GMT in Market Square in Woodhouse.
The 14-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been recovering well, police said.
Supt Martin Simcock urged parents to speak to their children about the risks of knife crime.
He said: "This senseless attack is the reality of knife crime in our city and how, in the brink of a moment of violence, lives and families can be shattered and have their worlds turned upside down.
"We will not allow knife crime to take lives and cause fear and harm. It has no place in our communities.
"Policing alone cannot undo this, and we need your help, parents' help, to start conversations, raise awareness and make South Yorkshire a place where young people don't feel like they need weapons or violence."
