Police have appealed for information after a woman in her 80s died following a crash involving a car and a private ambulance.

Officers said they were called to the junction of the B591 Copt Oak Road and Charley Road near Nanpantan in Leicestershire shortly before 17:45 on 23 November.

The woman, a passenger in the grey Volkswagen Golf, was taken to hospital and discharged. However, she was readmitted on 27 November and died two days later.

No other serious injuries were reported and there have been no arrests, Leicestershire Police said.

Det Con Emma Neeves said: "I'm keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on either road at the time and particularly anyone who stopped at the scene after the collision occurred.

"Any motorists with dashcams should also get in touch as they may have footage that could help our investigation."
