The driver of a car that crashed on the Isle of Man's Mountain Road while approaching Douglas died from a fractured skull, his inquest has heard.

Jack Sheppard, who lived in the Manx capital, died at the scene at Hillberry after his red Mini crashed into a wall at about 09:30 GMT on 16 January.

The hearing at Douglas Courthouse was told the 31-year-old heating and compliance engineer had suffered a skull base fracture.

Adjourning the inquest to a date to be set, Coroner James Brooks passed on his condolences to Sheppard's family and friends for their "sudden loss".
