Two Manxman sailings between Douglas and Heysham are at risk of cancellation

Two ferry crossings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire are at risk of cancellation amid strong winds.

Both Monday's 19:15 GMT Manxman sailing from Douglas to Heysham and the 01:45 return journey are subject to disruption or cancellation, with a final decision to be made at 17:15, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said.

A yellow severe weather warning is in place for coastal overtopping around the times of high tides, at about 11:45 and at 00:05 on Tuesday.

Forecasters have said that fresh or strong easterly winds would result in choppy seas and slight overtopping, with a little debris particularly on Douglas, Laxey, Castletown and Ramsey promenades, as well as on Shore Road in Rushen.

Ronaldsway Met Office said that with continuing fresh or strong winds expected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, along with large high tides, further warnings were likely to be issued for some coastal overtopping in the same areas.

Ferry passengers have been told they can amend their bookings amid the potential disruption.
