Police have confirmed there was a fatal crash at Hillberry Corner

The driver of a car that crashed on a section of the Isle of Man TT Course on Friday morning has died, police have said.

The incident involving the red mini happened at about 09:30 GMT in the area of Hillberry on the approach to the island's capital.

The Isle of Man Constabulary have appealed for witnesses who saw the car being driven along the A18 Mountain Road or through Hillberry prior to the crash, including those with dashcam footage, to come forward.

No details about the diver, who was alone in the car at the time of the crash, have been released.

In a statement, the constabulary said it was "working to establish the full circumstances" and urged those with information to get in touch.

Roads in the area remained closed for several hours while the investigation took place.
