A man has been jailed after being found guilty of sexually abusing two children.

Mark Mingard, of Chapple Close, Oundle, was found guilty at Northampton Crown Court of five offences including raping a child under 13.

At a sentencing hearing on 27 February at the same court, the 55-year-old was jailed for a total of 21 years.

Det Con Laura Beeby of Northamptonshire Police said: "I am so proud of the children involved in this case for the courage they have shown in telling us their stories and helping us put a sexual predator behind bars."

The court heard that between 2015 and 2021, Mingard targeted two children.

His crimes were uncovered when one of the victims confided in a friend, which exposed the offences and resulted in his arrest.

Following a police investigation, he was charged with four counts of raping a child under 13 and one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13.

Mingard was also given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and notice of requirement.

Once he is released from prison he will also serve a year on extended licence.
