Councillors and town board members have promised a "bumper day of family fun" when the Bilston Carnival returns

The date has been announced for the return of a town's carnival last held 18 years ago.

Bilston will celebrate the event's comeback on 4 July with what the City of Wolverhampton Council describes as a "bumper day of family fun".

The authority said it would involve a 1960s theme in a nod to the decade when the carnival first took place.

The event will feature a parade through the town centre and community groups have been invited to take part by entering a themed float.

The procession will finish at Hickman Park, where the celebrations will continue from midday to about 17:00 BST.

There will be performances on the main stage, including a Bilston's Got Talent event, along with a variety of family activities and competitions throughout the day.

Bilston councillor Linda Leach said: "Bringing back the Bilston Carnival in 2026 will help rebuild that sense of togetherness, connecting generations and celebrating what makes this town special."

The council has urged people and groups to get involved on the day by applying for a stall, entering a float in the parade, providing entertainment or becoming an event sponsor.
