Police say the gun was not used to threaten pupils or staff

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a gun was brought into a school.

Police were called to Moseley Park Academy on Holland Road, in the Bilston area of Wolverhampton just after 11:00 GMT on Monday.

The gun was seized by officers and the West Midlands force said it was assessing the weapon.

The arrested teen, detained on suspicion of possessing a firearm, remained in custody, police added.

The force said no students or staff were threatened with the firearm and officers did not believe there to be any wider risk to the public.

Police inquiries remain ongoing.

The BBC has contacted the school for comment.
