Family pay tribute to 'happy son' killed in stabbing
Surrey Police/Family HandoutThe family of a boy who died after being stabbed in woodland have paid tribute to their "happy son" and said they "praise and adore" the time they spent with him.
Luis Guembes, 15, died in woodland off Lido Road in Stoke Park, Guildford, Surrey, on 19 January.
His family described him as a "kind young boy, caring friend and a talented footballer".
Two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, who have been accused of the fatal stabbing of Guembes have made their first appearance at crown court and were remanded in custody until 23 February.
Luis' family said: "He had a warm, welcoming smile and an athletic body full of strength and beauty. He was starting to become a young man, leaving the curious child behind.
"We regret that fatal day, but we praise and adore all the time we spent together.
"Luis will be forever remembered, never forgotten."
GoFundMeThe family also thanked Surrey Police for its "sensitive and thorough" handling of the investigation, as well as the paramedics who tried to save his life.
"To see the thoughts and memories in which Luis is held by all who knew him is an enormous comfort," they added. "He was loved by many."
In a previous tribute issued by All Hallows Catholic School, which Luis attended, head teacher Mark Baines said he "exuded a joy and love of life that was impossible to miss".
