The fund will be used to invest in habitat creation and ecological restoration projects

The first ever Natural Capital Fund has been registered in Guernsey.

The Guernsey Financial Services Commission said it marked "a significant milestone" in the island's support for nature-focused sustainable finance.

The fund would provide a "regulated designation for investment schemes" which made a positive contribution to the natural world, the commission said.

Director general William Mason said the fund would make it easier for investors to contribute to helping the planet.

The Natural Capital Fund forms part of the Guernsey sustainable funds framework and sits alongside the Guernsey Green Fund designation.

The commission said it would be used to invest in "large‑scale habitat creation and ecological restoration projects known as habitat banks", which it said supported compliance with England's 2024 biodiversity net gain regulations.
