Three teenage boys arrested after a man suffered serious injuries in a city's shopping area have been released.

The victim, in his 30s, was attacked outside Boots in Above Bar Street, Southampton, on Wednesday shortly before 20:50 GMT.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said further inquiries revealed he was attacked by one man, who officers are now trying to identify, and that the victim had not been stamped on the head as initially reported. He has since left hospital.

The force said the boys, two aged 16 and one 15, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder had been released with no further action to be taken.
