Windows become winter wonderlands for city trail
Ryan StanikkWindows in a city centre have been turned into snow scenes for a festive walking trail.
More than 20 windows in Southampton have been turned into magical wintry scenes, inspired by the city's landmarks, winter wildlife, nature and festive characters, created by artist Tom Baker, from Sandhurst, Berkshire.
The Snow Windows trail has two routes - a 1.6-mile (2.5km) Snowflake Route, which takes about 40 minutes, and a 25-minute Star Route, covering 0.7 miles (1.1 km).
Each hand-painted window includes a quiz question themed around either the Hampshire city or the winter season.
Ryan StanikkThe snow scenes grace the windows of 22 venues, including The University of Southampton, SeaCity Museum, John Hansard Gallery and the Marlands Shopping Centre.
A portrait of Hampshire-born author Jane Austen will be displayed at Southampton Solent University's Sports Complex to mark the 250th anniversary of her birth.
The free trail runs from 29 November to 4 January and trail maps can printed or viewed on a phone or picked up from a number of venues in the city centre.
