People treated after breathing in chemical spill fumes
GoogleA chemical spill has been declared safe following an incident that left several people needing treatment.
Fire crews were called to a commercial premises near Gladys Avenue in Portsmouth at about 13:30 GMT.
Specialist hazmat teams were also in attendance, with paramedics treating some casualties who reported a mild inhalation of chemical fumes.
"After testing the area with gas monitoring equipment, the incident was handed back to onsite staff and the safety cordons withdrawn," Hampshire fire service said.
Residents were advised to close windows and doors during the incident.
"Police officers were on the scene to close Gladys Avenue as firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, worked to investigate and contain the spillage," the fire service added.
Crews left the scene at about 15:30 GMT.
