Reduced bus services will be operating during the strike action

Buses will once again be restricted to serving main routes only as a second period of strike action by drivers gets underway on the Isle of Man.

Members of the Unite union have begun the latest walkout in an ongoing dispute over pay and entitlements, following their first 10 days of action which ended on Tuesday.

Operator Bus Vannin said there would be no dedicated school services on Friday but pupils could use Go Cards to access the services that were running.

The Manx Electric Railway will also again run services for commuters and school students between Ramsey and Derby Castle on Douglas Promenade.

Buses are set to operate on main routes to and from Lord Street in Douglas via Laxey and Rasmey, Peel and Port Erin and Port St Mary. Several of those will run via Noble's Hospital.

People have been encouraged to use the findmybus app for information on live services throughout the day.

The strike has been planned to continue until the early hours of 10 March.

Bus Vannin said details of services planned for the weekend and Monday would be released later.
