A38 reopened after car and lorry crash

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash in Cornwall involving a car and a lorry, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called at about 15:50 GMT following a collision between a lorry and a car on the eastbound carriageway of the A38, close to the entrance to the Saltash Tunnel.

The force said ambulance, fire and the air ambulance had been called to the scene, with one man treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital. His injuries are currently unknown.

Police had closed the eastbound carriageway at the Carkeel Roundabout and National Highways announced it had reopened at about 18:00 GMT.

It said the Cornwall-bound carriageway was closed temporarily for the air ambulance which had been stood down.
