A former care home could raise £380,000 after it was put up for auction by Leeds City Council.

Knowle Manor in Morley is being sold as a "potential redevelopment" site after it was closed last August as part of multi-million pound cost-saving plan.

The Tennyson Terrace home has now been listed for sale with Pugh Auctions.

The auction site said: "Internally the property is in poor condition and is likely to be more suited for demolition and redevelopment, subject to any necessary consents."

The building is about 980 ft (300m) from Morley town centre and is in a residential area close to schools, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and a railway station.

The auction site set £380,000 as a guide price and said bidding would start at the end of January.

Opposition councillors challenged the decision to close the home in 2024 over fears for the care of vulnerable residents, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Leeds City Council said demand for residential care had declined as more people sought to be cared for in their own homes.
