Man arrested following vehicle theft 'crime spree'
Getty ImagesUndercover police officers have been patrolling the streets in an area of Nottinghamshire following a vehicle theft "crime spree".
Police said multiple residents in Gedling reported their cars had been stolen or broken into in December.
A Mercedes that was among the vehicles stolen in the borough was later recovered near Carlton Road, close to St Ann's.
A 44-year-old man had been arrested in relation to a number of vehicle crime offences, Nottinghamshire Police said.
'Extremely distressed'
Other streets targeted included Babbington Crescent and Willow Lane, where a bank card and an expensive bottle of perfume were stolen from a car.
Thefts have also taken place on Maple Drive, where football boots, kickboxing equipment and Amazon parcels were snatched. Air pods and a dash camera were also taken on Horwood Drive.
PC Mark Szeremeta, beat manager for Gedling, said: "Throughout December, we have carried out plain clothed patrols to locate those responsible.
"We know that residents in the area were extremely distressed to find their cars broken into or stolen.
"For many, their vehicle is their lifeline to take children to school, to go to work, and to enjoy social activities and we were determined to put a stop to this crime spree."
