Plans have been put forward for a new 80-bed care home in Gedling.

Charterpoint has submitted a planning application to Gedling Borough Council to build a three-storey care home on land off Lambley Lane.

According to planning documents the 1.54-acre site is empty after most recently being used as a builders compound.

A report submitted by developers says there is a "continued demand" to accommodate vulnerable older people requiring nursing and residential care in the area.

Plans state there would be 18 bedrooms on the ground floor, 31 bedrooms on the first floor as well as 31 bedrooms on the second floor.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service said documents stated all residents and visitors would be able to access private landscaped gardens from the front of house area, lounge and dining areas.

They also list a "warm and welcoming entrance foyer", leading to a reception, café, activity room, multi-purpose room and hairdresser.

"The proposed development will provide much needed specialist accommodation designed to meet the needs of older people in Gedling," the developer said in a report.

"It represents a carefully considered scheme that makes efficient use of the site the proposal is designed to a very high standard

"The scheme incorporates appropriate provision for access, parking, landscaping and communal space."
